Powerchair Football Hits the Big Time

WNST Chief Executive, Stewart Goshawk, recently visited a Powerchair football session run by Crystal Palace FC Foundation as part of the Inclusive United project. Seven young wheelchair users took part and received expert coaching on skills such as ball-control and manoeuvring the specially designed wheelchairs.

Crystal Palace FC’s Premier League players Aaron Wilbraham and Scottish international Barry Bannon visited the session, meeting the young players and having a go at Powerchair football themselves. The event was featured live on Sky Sports News with a longer piece recorded for broadcast this evening (Thursday 27th March).

The 15 London-based football in the community schemes are working together to deliver the FA’s Greater London Disability Football strategy. This work is jointly funded by WNST and the FA.
