Sea Cadets Centre Officially Opened

The new multi-purpose Sea Cadets training centre at the Welsh Harp Reservoir in Brent was officially opened on Saturday 14th May.

The Welsh Harp is widely recognised as an excellent venue for many water-based activities, and hone to a number of sailing clubs that have received WNST funding.

The new £750,000 building will provide first-class water-sports training facilities for sea cadet groups locally, regionally and nationally. The centre has classrooms for both theory and practical training, as well as overnight facility to accommodate participants on longer courses or from further afield.

The official ribbon was cut by leading GB Paralympic yachtswoman, Megan Pascoe, accompanied by the Sea Cadets national Chief Executive, Martin Coles. Additionally and in the seafarer style, the building was blessed in a short service conducted by the Archdeacon of London, Chaplain Luke Miller RNR. After a tour of the new building, guests were given a demonstration of sailing skills by some of the sea cadets.
