Sir Rodney Walker – Vice Chairman

Sir Rodney has been involved in many charitable projects throughout his career. He is Chairman of the Wakefield District Community Stadium Trust and Trustee of the London Marathon Charitable Trust, President of the Youth Charter for Sport and Vice President of the Federation of Disability Sports organisations. He is an Honorary Life Vice President of the Rugby Football League, an Honorary Life Member of Leicester City Plc, an Honorary Member of the NSPCC, and is a patron of The Harold “Dickie” Bird Foundation.

In 2013 Sir Rodney was appoint chair of TdFHUB 2014 Ltd, responsible for overseeing the allocation of £10 million of government money for the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart & Stage 3. Taking place over 3 days and starting in Yorkshire before moving onto South East England, the event was attracted 3.8 million spectators, generating an estimated financial benefit of £128 million.

Sir Rodney has a range of charitable interests in Wakefield and across Yorkshire. He has also been very involved in the Arts, being president of multiple theatre trusts and has sat on the board of many other organisations.

Sir Rodney has been Chairman of Goals Soccer Centres Plc. since 2002 and became controlling shareholder & Chairman of Sport Pathways Ltd in 2011. He is Chairman of Lightsong Media Ltd and controlling shareholder of Myerscough Holdings Ltd. Together with his wife and two sons he has formed “The Myerscough Charitable Trust”. He was chairman of Sport England & then UK Sport between 1994 – 2002.
