Wembley Stadium Celebrates 10th Anniversary

As Wembley Stadium celebrates the 10th anniversary of the official opening of the rebuilt iconic venue, we look back at a decade of success and landmark moments in the nation’s sport and music history.

A visit to play at Wembley remains the pinnacle of achievement for sportsmen and women across many different fields.  First and foremost, the stadium remains the home for our national football teams, as well as the venue for cup finals and play-off finals at many levels of the game from the FA Vase to the Champions League.  In the past ten years, the England men’s team have the proud record of 40 wins from 54 games – a fantastic achievement.  The women’s game too, goes from strength to strength, with the SSE Women’s FA Cup Final now a regular fixture at the stadium.

Wembley was also the proud host of nine fixtures in the London 2012 football tournament, and played our part in the capital hosting that unforgettable summer of Olympic and Paralympic sport.

Outside of football, Wembley has hosted some never-to-be-forgotten sporting moments including the 2015 Rugby World Cup, classic NFL encounters and world-title boxing encounters of a quality rarely seen in this country.

The music events hosted at the Stadium have been no less memorable.  The list of those who have played at Wembley in the past ten years is a veritable Who’s Who of pop and rock – from Oasis, Madonna and U2 to Ed Sheeran, Take That, the late great George Michael and later this year Adele.
